Why am I a Pelvic Health Physiotherapist? What brings me joy in my job?
The gift of being able to contribute something meaningful to another’s life is beyond gratifying. Having that as my job, is the most rewarding thing, and I get to do that every day!
Helping men and women with their most intimate concerns and showing them new ways to manage or alleviate their symptoms, gives me the most joy. The hardest part is just walking through the door! My goal once you’re in my office is to have you know you’re not alone on your journey, and we will create some kind of change together, whatever that may be.
Becoming a mother over this past year has taught me so many things, whether I was ready for it or not. But the most important thing I’m seeing is that self-care and prioritizing my health is so necessary. Having gone through childbirth and seeing the changes in my body, I can see first-hand the importance of pelvic health, and not letting small issues be swept aside. It can be so easy to do when you are juggling the hats of being a mother, spouse, colleague, friend, etc. The small issues just seem to snowball over time and soon they can be affecting your daily life and creating barriers to things that might bring you joy. I am more appreciate of my fellow health care providers more than ever, and how they intertwine to truly take care of the whole person.
