Clinical Counselling
Cara Riendeau
Clinical counselling focuses on a holistic approach, considering the entirety of a person’s identity, offering a perspective that connects outside factors to the root causes of their presenting challenges.
In Saskatchewan, Registered Social Workers who specialize in clinical counselling are registered with the SASW (Saskatchewan Association of Social Workers) and are trained to conduct assessments of an individual’s functioning; including their biological, psychological, social, emotional and cultural needs. These assessments help clients to build strategies to manage their mental health by becoming aware of the interconnection between body, mind and spirit.
Clients often seek counselling when their usual problem solving methods are unable to satisfactorily resolve a difficult situation and they want to understand themselves better to improve their ability to thrive and cope with adversity. Our Clinical Counsellors specialize in working with adult women to support them with generalized anxiety, depression, panic, and PTSD. Clients often present following a traumatic event; difficult pregnancy, birth, or postpartum period; or after an autoimmune disease diagnosis.
