Course Description:

Embark on a transformative journey towards holistic well-being with our course on Embodied Wellness, where we integrate somatic practices with Polyvagal Theory. Over the span of four weeks, participants will explore the profound connection between mind and body, learning practical techniques to enhance self-awareness, regulate emotions, and foster resilience.

Week 1: Foundations of Embodied Wellness In the first week, participants will establish a foundational understanding of embodied wellness, exploring the principles of somatic practices and Polyvagal Theory. They will delve into the concept of the autonomic nervous system's role in stress responses and emotional regulation. Through experiential exercises and discussions, participants will begin cultivating somatic awareness and integrating Polyvagal Theory into their daily lives.

Week 2: Exploring Somatic Practices Week two focuses on deepening participants' engagement with somatic practices. They will learn a variety of techniques such as mindfulness, body scans, breathwork, and gentle movement to enhance body awareness and regulate the nervous system. Practical sessions will guide participants in applying these techniques to manage stress, reduce anxiety, and improve overall well-being.

Week 3: Polyvagal Theory in Practice Building on the foundations laid in the previous weeks, week three explores the practical applications of Polyvagal Theory in therapeutic settings and everyday life. Participants will learn how to recognize autonomic nervous system states (ventral vagal, sympathetic, dorsal vagal) and apply this knowledge to enhance interpersonal relationships, manage conflicts, and promote emotional safety. Through conversation and connection, participants will deepen their understanding and application of Polyvagal Theory principles.

Week 4: Integration and Personal Wellness Plan The final week synthesizes the learnings from the course, focusing on integrating somatic practices with Polyvagal Theory into a personalized wellness plan. Participants will reflect on their journey, identify strengths and areas for growth, and develop strategies for ongoing self-care and resilience-building. They will create actionable steps to incorporate these practices into their daily routines, ensuring sustainable improvements in mental, emotional, and physical well-being.

Course Objectives:

● Gain a comprehensive understanding of the principles of somatic practices and Polyvagal Theory.

● Learn practical techniques to enhance somatic awareness, regulate the autonomic nervous system, and manage stress.

● Apply Polyvagal Theory principles to improve emotional regulation, foster secure attachments, and promote social engagement.

● Develop a personalized wellness plan integrating somatic practices and Polyvagal Theory for ongoing self-care and resilience.

This course is ideal for individuals interested in holistic approaches to mental health, including mental health professionals, counselors, educators, and anyone seeking to deepen their understanding of the mind-body connection. Participants will emerge empowered with tools to enhance their well-being and support others in their journey towards embodied wellness.

At the heart of our course on Embodied Wellness is the opportunity for authentic connection and growth through vulnerable sharing circles. These circles provide a safe space for participants to explore personal experiences, challenges, and insights related to their journey towards holistic well-being. Participants are encouraged to share openly and respectfully, fostering empathy, understanding, and mutual support within the group.
