It’s common knowledge that pregnancy and childbirth are life-changing events. You grow a person inside your body! You bring that person into the world! Your life will never be the same - and your body will go through more transitions than you can count.

That’s why it’s so helpful to plan in advance for the care you’ll need. Both your body and your identity, relationships, and properties will undergo shifts, and it’s important to attend to your physical, mental, and emotional health.

We are committed to helping women have the healthiest pregnancy they possibly can. Through chiropractic care, physiotherapy, massage therapy, functional nutrition, and pre-natal yoga, we can help your body support your baby and give you your best chance at natural childbirth (if that’s your goal) or one that progresses naturally, requiring little in the way of medical intervention.

At Holistic Physiotherapy & Wellness, we treat each patient as a unique individual and as a whole person - body, mind, and spirit - who needs care. Together, we can come up with a roadmap of prenatal care that meets your specific needs for holistic health based on what’s most important to you and how your body is responding to pregnancy. The sooner you come to see us, the more proactive your care will be.

But what about after the baby comes? Many women spend so much time learning about and preparing for labor and delivery that we forget to consider what comes next. Obviously, there’s a new tiny human to take care of. We must not forget to take care of ourselves too.

Giving birth has an enormous impact on a woman’s body, and everything from hormone levels to pelvic floor strength will shift and change. We have a roadmap of care for that too, so please, if you are expecting, plan ahead to get the care that facilitates your ability to feel like yourself again and to feel good in your post-baby body.

All the services we provide for prenatal health, like massage, chiropractic care, and physiotherapy, we can also provide afterwards. In particular, most women benefit from a little attention to their pelvic floor and abdominal muscles.

Please be sure to be aware of your mental health and your mood as well. The baby blues and postpartum depression are alarmingly common. We can help you address them, with clinical counseling and lifestyle medicine. In addition, many women find that, because of the mind-body connection, those physical therapies can make a big impact on their emotional state as well.

We’ve been listening to the needs of the women in our community, and we’ve added some places and spaces that may be helpful to you if you are expecting or if you are a new mom. We now proudly offer Holistic Yoga Mama, a prenatal yoga series for women at any point in their pregnancy to connect, share, & empower one another, with live yoga classes by Zoom and a growing on-demand library.

We also created GrowCo, an on-demand postpartum education and exercise rehabilitation series of 8-classes led by women's health professionals. We’ll teach you how to treat and overcome some of the most common post-birth conditions women experience.

Having a roadmap of care throughout your journey, through those magical months of pregnancy to the hectic days of caring for a newborn, can make all the difference.

You’re making a miracle and you deserve the best care! We would love to provide that for you.
